Choosing a yoga class
Start with the actual programme: duration, pace, required experience and time devoted to postures, breathing and meditation. For your first class, look for a session that explicitly welcomes beginners and ask how exercises are explained. The style name alone does not describe every aspect of the class.
For a workshop or retreat, also check the number of sessions and breaks. Distinguish what the fee includes, such as equipment, meals or accommodation, from what you need to arrange separately.
Before you arrive on the mat
Check whether mats and props are provided or you need to bring them. Ask about access to the room and alternatives to floor exercises if you need them. If the class includes hands-on adjustments, clarify how the teacher asks for consent and how to indicate that you prefer verbal guidance.
